The process of production begins with customers delivering the required materials to us; materials will typically consist of content and artwork related elements. Materials can be sent by email, providing they are not too big, or over the Internet using the various channels that exist such as FTP and bulk data transfer providors (such as yousendit.com).
Our preference in terms of sending us content as opposed to artwork is that it is sent by post on a disc — this is particularly favoured when it comes to DVD video content.
2. Artwork Processing & Creation
Where we are required to create artwork on behalf of customers, we would consult in order to determine what is required. That said, many customers are also happy to leave design to the imagination of our experienced designers. We offer free graphic design to all replication customers.
Where customers create their own artwork we will check it thoroughly to ensure it meets the required specifications.
Where amendments are required, our designers will address these and draw attention to the adjustments needed and made, providing a proof for approval.
3. Artwork Approval
In a sense, at this stage in the process we are really seeking disapproval rather than approval: the emphasis here, rightly, is on finding errors rather than letting them go unnoticed.
Customers are urged to give close inspection to all artwork at this stage, regardless of where the artwork came from or who produced it. This is something we take very seriously and will always strenuously emphasize.
Where errors are found and adjustemnts required, the artwork will go back to our designers and the process essentially returns to stage 2 as described above.
4. Production Begins
Once artwork has been given approval, it is then handed over to our production team. It is at this stage that content will be tested by our systems which run systematic checks on the integrity of content discs. Note that these systems will only check for physical and non-physical errors that might inhibit or prevent the replication process.
It is at this stage that payment will be arranged and invoices generated in line with quotations given. With replication, the timescale for production and final delivery will usually be no more than 2 weeks. With duplication the timescale is usually no more than 2 or 3 days.
